Developed over centuries, traditional upholstery involves a range of labour-intensive techniques which requires the relevant skill-set by the craftsperson, as well as all the specialist tools.
Materials used are kind to you and the environment as they are all natural. From the coir and animal hair fillings, hessian, cotton calico and even the flax twine used to create the form and shape of arms and seat.
Antique furniture is made from strong hardwoods, with mortise-and-tenon joints at all key stress points, making the frame very sturdy - robust enough to last decades. With a bit of care and attention (that’s where I come in!) will last many decades more.
